Movie Review: Chiranjeet-Kanchana partnership saves Paromita's debut film
Guha Manab', a film by debutante director Paromita Munshi is based on a novel by Sirshendu Mukherjee of the same name. It's a story of an emotional turmoil of relationship between a man and his daughter-in-law.

The story revolves around an ex-army man Batakrishna Roy (Chiranjeet Chakraborty) and his daughter-in-law Pinky (Kanchana Moitra). The film also stars Pallavi Chatterjee, Laboni Sarkar, Sujan Mukherjee and veteran filmmaker Sekhar Das in pivotal roles.

It's a pure psychic journey of two persons along and their relationship complexities where a lady tries to differentiate love and lust but fails to save herself from the web of lust.

As debuting director, Paromita has tried a lot to make the scenes believable and while she somehow succeeded in doing so at places, in some scenes she falters. The script could have been better because the film loses its pace very early. Editing and cinematography do not complement the story. But Kanchana and Chiranjeet have tried hard to make up the flaws and do it with ease.

Earlier Kanchana and Chiranjeet had collaborated in Paromita's short film 'The Last Tram', where she played a sex-worker and Chiranjeet a poet. Kabir Suman's music hasn't got too much scope in the film but he has composed the songs very well, recreating Tagore’s songs with mastery. If someone has an interest in decoding the undue and lusty knots of relationships, then 'Guha Manab' is a worth watch.
