Merinews was established a year ago. It is a platform that allows citizens to express their views in form of content. Our first priority is the simple yet complex principle of ‘freedom of expression’.

Over the last one year, a number of citizen journalists have written on diverse topics and consequently have led merinews to emerge as a respected and recognized portal. The Webby honour is a proof of that.

Taking a step forward, we now introduce honorarium for those articles that are featured in ‘merinews picks’. The articles would be selected by the editorial board of merinews, the selection process would include criterion viz. topic, expression and language. An amount of Rs. 500/- per article would be given away as a token of appreciation.

Merinews encourages diversity of representation and expression. We seek to dismantle all barriers that discourage participation due to any reason, so we urge you to partake more actively in our endevour to empower our democracy.
